Objectives and Expected Output

--------------------------------------------------

Aims and Objectives

The EITD Research State Budget Issues Conference (SBIC) series aims to expedite achievement of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) with the view to helping countries such as Cameroon to live up to the mandate of their Constitutions by focusing democratic discussion on substantive financial, economic and political issues facing people in Cameroon and around the world.

More specifically, the EITD Research SBIC series empowers all generations of public policy stakeholders to:

  •  Engage one another and become more involved in and informed about affairs of state or government;

  •  Investigate and follow-up compliance with legal guarantees of fundamental human rights and freedoms and their relations, or lack thereof, with annual finance laws or state budgets;

  •  Enrich the contents of public and private sector services, as well as increase their scale, pace of delivery and impacts; and,

  •  Hold state power to account continually.

--------------------------------------------------

Expected Output

The EITD Research SBIC series provides:

  •  Opportunity for various public policy subject matter specialists to interact with other public policy stakeholders, raising issues that may otherwise be ignored, generating policy debates and reform options;

  •  Relevant and lively reports on what works well or not, where, how, why, etc.;

  •  Assessments of the state of the economy, its outlook, likely turns, and fiscal policy remedy proposals;

  •  Advice for various public policy stakeholders on proper economic and legal conduct; and,

  •  Reference and other networking tools that assist further engagements and collaborations. These include Conference Proceedings Book/CD, Abstract Book/CD, Programme Book, Delegate Lists, and Newsletters.
