Accommodation
Participants are expected to make their own
accommodation arrangements. There are several hotels and travel inns of
various categories in Yaounde. We encourage all participants to book
accommodation as early as possible, even as it may be possible to make
last minute arrangements.
Hotels combined provides a hotels price
comparison system, with a 10% discount for EITD Research SBIC
participants who book through their participating websites. You would
need to book through their
basic list of hotels in Yaounde.
A list of other hotels and travel inns offering
discount rates to EITD Research SBIC participants will soon be posted here, on
this website.

Airport and Airline Information
Several airlines serve Cameroon, and call at the
Nsimalen International Airport in Yaounde, with flight connections to
various destinations around the world. For details, contact your local
travel agency and ask how to get to Cameroon's Yaounde Nsimalen
International Airport. A list of the carriers serving the airport and
their rates or discounts for Conference participants will soon be posted
here.

Travel to Yaounde
1) By Road, from the Airport - Yellow taxis
or cabs are available at the airport and will take you to any
destination in town at a rate. Some hotels provide airport shuttle bus
services for their guests. A list of taxi or cab agencies and hotel
shuttle bus services and their rates or discounts for Conference
participants will soon be posted here.
2) By Road, from other destinations in Cameroon
or neighboring countries - Several road transport travel agencies
provide services that link Yaounde and other destinations in Cameroon or
neighboring countries. The schedules and rates vary. A list of travel
agencies, their schedules and rates or discounts for Conference
participants for the Conference period will soon be posted here.
3) By Railway - Camrail, the sole railway
operator in Cameroon, provides services that link Yaounde and other
Cameroon towns and villages.

Tour Options
Although not in the itinerary of the State Budget
Issues Conference, participants are welcome to include tour of Cameroon,
neighboring countries or Africa as a whole in their travel programme.
Cameroon is often referred to as "Africa in miniature", with its unique
blend of peoples, cultures, landscape and climate variations. Several
travel agencies provide services at various rates. A list of agencies,
the services they provide and rates including discounts for Conference
participants will soon be posted here, on this website.

Entry Visa
An entry visa is a requirement for all
non-nationals visiting Cameroon. You can get the entry visa from any
Cameroon foreign representation such as High Commission, Embassy or
Consulate near you or at the airport in Cameroon. Should

Health/Immunization
Only inoculation against Yellow Fever is
compulsory. Anti-Malaria courses are also highly recommended. Conference
participants should seek advice from their doctor on any other health
measure that may be needed.

Currency and Exchange Rates
The Franc CFA (African Finance Community) is the
currency used in Cameroon. There are 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 and 500 franc
coins and 500, 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000 franc bank notes.

Climate, What to Wear
Yaounde is graced with a mild, cool, climate. The
State Budget Issues Conference will be holding November 2-4, 2010, when
temperatures average 25oC. So cotton and woolen cloths may be
handy as mornings and evenings can get quite cold - by tropical
standards. Clean and decent dressing is recommended, even as the
Conference has no particular dress code. Electricity power for lighting,
ironing, etc., is 220V running at 50Hz.

There are several eating places in Yaounde,
offering a great variety of local and foreign cuisines. A list of
